Task: Redesign Cal Poly Pomona’s mascot Billy the Bronco in an cartoon style that can be used in various scenarios.

Outcome: Multiple renditions of the mascot were designed for use in posters, postcards, stickers, and web use.

Sketch & Research Process

The process began with researching previous renditions of Billy the Bronco. What was found were renditions of the Billy mascot suit. Ultimately the look of Billy would have to be inspired by these renditions for brand cohesiveness, but also launch the mascot into a modern light.

Beginning sketches of Billy, and the foundation of how the character would be built upon.

Implementation

Once a proper design for Billy was approved, it was time to implement it in various different methods, such as animated reels, posters, postcards, and more.

Using Billy, a post was designed to communicate the Office of Admissions message for spring semester applications.
